FANTASY
COLORS I
DREAM ABOUT!
Mercury or silvered glass
was made in Bohemia, England
and the United States from around
the mid 19th century through the
first
few decades of the 20th century.

Blown double-walled, then silvered
between the layers with a solution
containing silver nitrate and other
materials, the glass was made in
many forms, including vases, goblets,
tableware, figures, lamp reflectors,
and curtain pins.

This site was developed to showcase
beautiful examples to share, and to
promote a better understanding of
the artistic merit of the glass itself!
Thanks for visiting!

Very Rare, Museum quality Cased
Cranberry cut to silvered Mercury
glass footed master salt, made in the
USA circa 1860-80, probably the New
England Glass Company, or the
Boston & Sandwich Glass Company.
With its original cork seal imbedded
in the pontil hole, underfoot, the
piece is outstanding condition!

These magnificent vases, blown of
bohemian crystal, then silvered, were
decorated with fine crystal granulate
etching in a complex "FOREST" pattern
consisting of birds, palms, ferns and
foliage. With bright gold washed
interiors, and original seals, the vases are
quite rare!  The vases date to about 1870!
